Dear Mom.

Hi mom?? How are you? Everything goes well? I always think about you and I miss all of my memories in Korea. Today, I have something to tell you and I don’t know how you would respond to me. I have a boy friend now, and we are seeing each other very seriously. Maybe, you can think about my safety and studying. He doesn’t have a gun, so you don’t need to worry about it and I always should use English to talk with him. It is very nice for me, because it is not boring and my English speaking skill is getting better since I have met him. As you know, I already had a boy friend when I was a high school student. At the time, I had to study very hard to enter the university I want. I didn’t want to disappoint you, so I tried to do my best. I promise you I will not disappoint you by seeing my boy friend here. Whether I have a boy friend or not does not matter, because I can do my jobs as I did. When I came here, I felt very lonely and I needed someone to talk with. My boy friend is very attractive, handsome, kind and very smart but I mostly love his warm heart for me. Without his help, I could not adjust to American Life Style. I am very happy now and I think you also want for me to be happy. Don’t worry about me anymore !

In Taipei, five people were killed and 84 injured Wednesday, because a tree hit a train in which there were Chinese tourists. The train was going through a forest area of Mount Ali and the tree trunk made four carriages overturn. Unfortunately, the government said there are more 42 people who were seriously hurt. Taiwanese officials have promised to help families of the Chines tourists to come to the island. Injured people were moved by helicopter to the safe area and other injured passengers were moved to nearby hospital to cure their injuries. The accidents like this have happened including one incident in 2003 that killed 17 people.

Nicole Felton. (April 12, 2011). Coffee can be healthy. Daily Titan.

The author says having at least two cups of coffee in the morning is a way to be healthy. There are many beneficial effects of coffee and the author specifically tells us the exact definition list of health benefits like brain health, diabetes health and heart health etc. He tries to appeal to trust and values, so he cites Joe Vinson, Ph.D., a coffee expert at the University of Scranton, drinking around two cups of coffee in a day will lead to certain health benefits. By quoting the expert’s comment, he tries to make us believe his argument. Also, he uses a study in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition to give how much the evidence of the benefits of coffee is right and how much we can lower the risk of many diseases by two cups of coffee. This article is very logical and I can trust the article, because the article also says about the bad effects of coffee like the addict for caffeine and sleeping lately. Before reading this article, I heard of the benefits of coffee from my American friend, who also said many American people always find at least a cup of coffee a day. Finally, I think the coffee has the good effects for my health for the trusty figure of the study used in this article.

Cosmetics

In this database, Sara Goering explains about the history of cosmetics easily to understand. Firstly, she talks about the practice of painting and tattooing the body dates back to early-Neanderthal humans. I could find the fact that the initial purpose of cosmetics at the time was not only to enhance beauty, but for camouflage to fear in others and representation of animal gods in ritual ceremonies. Then, he compares the purpose of cosmetics of Neanderthal humans with ancient Egyptians’, who focused on eye make-up for protection from the sun as well as for decoration. These two examples from different countries are very useful for me to broaden my essay, because I can compare two or more countries about the different means of cosmetics in my essay.

I researched for cosmetics and there were lots of information about the origin, bad effects and some experiments on animals for better cosmetics. All of those attracted my attention, but I chose the origin as my topic. There are many countries using cosmetics for different purposes and to different people. It is very interesting because most modern people can get their cosmetics whenever they want. I will specifically research about how cosmetics has changed over history. Most women like to decorate by themselves to be more beautiful than others. And many women use their money on buying new items. Until now, I have used up a lot of cosmetics to take care of my skin, but I didn’t have interest in the origin. I really want to know about the origin and how old people used their cosmetics and what purpose. Then, I can compare the different things together.

I have no plan to do in spring break not yet, but there my birthday is between spring days. I want to spend my birthday at a beautiful beach. I want to see an evening glow in the sky with my boyfriend. Maybe, we will rent a car to go there, and I want to make good memories. ! 

Since I have no plan exactly yet, I will talk about the travel to Las Vegas. A few weeks ago, I went to Las Vegas with my friend and boyfriend. It took 4 hours from Fullerton to go there, but I was happy because I have longed to ride a car on an endless freeway listening my favorite music as like a scene of car CF. My dream came true and I enjoyed myself. As soon as we arrived at our hotel, we went out for dinner. Las Vegas had many famous and cheap buffet restaurants. We chose one restaurant and tried to eat up all the food provided by good chief. It was a nice place to eat beef like a steak and lots of sea foods.

And, the night of Las Vegas was very awesome and I could see many tourists like us walking around busily to see more free shows. On the top of the Eiffel Tower, I saw all the town and I felt like being on the sky. The entrance fee was 10$ for each person, but the scene I saw was more valuable than 10$. After seeing all the downtown walking like a circle on the top, we went down to see a volcano show. On the center of the lake, there were many lights and real fire. The music added more fun and I was moved by the beautiful and magnificent show. All the free shows we saw were given by the city and many people altogether enjoyed them. It was an very nice experience and I took many pictures to memorize later.        

If I have a chance to go there again in approaching spring break, I will put the place in my second journey schedule.

I have two dogs in my home and I often try to talk with them. If they use their own language to talk with their friends or human, there will happen funny situations. For example, these days, a lot of people have a pet in their homes to escape feelings of loneliness. If their pet could speak, some people fall in love with their pet. They will stay home together everyday and the owner will try to talk about his business or troubles. Their feelings towards each other will be serious.

I want to ask animals about the color they can recognize and how they can interact with each animals. I think each animal has their ways to communicate from others. If I find the information, I will have a conversation with them as they teach me. Also, I want ask about the characteristics of people they most like. I love animals including my house dogs, so I want to make them happy and pleasant everyday. If they have some preference for people, I will be the person and there is no doubt that I am the popular person among animals in the world.
